Virgin launches mobile TV in France

April 27, 2010

Following a period of some indecision over the awarding of mobile TV licences, it seems that the French media regulator, the CSA, has made the decision to award Virgin Mobile, and the transmitter installation firm TDF, the licence to launch a mobile TV service in France.

This decision means that the development of this system can begin, despite there being issues previously with broadcasters and mobile communication operator actually taking the plunge to develop a network for this service.

It is now up to the CSA to set the ball rolling by nominating a multiplex operator before the 8th June.

Once this has been done the service can quickly go ahead to provide the consumer with a choice of thirteen private and three public channels.
