The Office of Fair Trading (OFT) will not be investigating the multi channel online TV service Project Canvas, although complaints were made following the formation of the group, claiming that the service was unfair to the competition.
However, the OFT has decided that Project Canvas does not even qualify for an investigation because the partners are not using existing businesses to provide the service.
Project Canvas is a partnership between the BBC, ITV, Channel Four, Five, TalkTalk, Arqiva and BT and the group is allegedly inviting another partner to join.
The main opponents against Project Canvas are the pay TV providers BSkyB and Virgin Media, who feel that their service will be facing unfair competition from the Project.
Only the BBC Trust stands in the way of Project Canvas now!
