Sky and BT disagree that internet crisis is looming
by David Allen

There are worries that because broadband users are taking advantage of increased internet connection speeds by downloading more content, watching steamed video and just generally using the internet more, this could mean that the speeds are compromised.
However, contrary to these thoughts, both BT and Sky Broadband fail to agree that this increased use could mean that the industry is heading for a crisis.
According to Jon James, Virgin Media’s executive director of broadband, the increase use of the internet will have an effect of average internet speeds, a theory that BT and BSkyB disagree with.
The solution to this issue, should the industry wish to control the usage, would be traffic management.
This would suit some networks but many consumers are not happy with these measures.
