Sony patents split screen 3D device

The Japan based Sony Computer Entertainment (SCE) has filed a patent application for a new device that will allow gamers to play multiplayer games in 3D while looking at the same 3D television.

The stereoscopic screen sharing technology will prevent the players from viewing each other’s moves and positions because each player will receive an image that is aimed at them.

This splitting technology divides the screen into separate viewpoints, so even though the players are using the same device they only see their own game being played.

Sony has gone into 3D in a big way this year, especially in the gamming sector where 3D is beginning to get a foothold in a big way.

Done in a car before. How can this be patented? Just because it is a game?
