Infrax announces Android VoIP phone
by Janet Harris
Infrax Systems Inc, which provides unified Smart Grid-related products and services for the Energy and Utility industries, has announced an Android-based phone for mobile voice and data applications.
The encrypted HTC Desire phone will allow users to securely manage voice calls and data.
A peer-to-peer connection provides secure VoIP calls between devices by eliminating a central network hub which could be vulnerable to eavesdroppers.
Calls are handled via the Internet using Wi-Fi, HSDPA (3.5G), UMTS (3G) or EDGE (2.5G) networks.
Three versions of the secure phone are available, Government, Industrial and Business, with a Utilities version expected soon.
