The latest Apple tablet rumour to emerge from Asia, where the company’s touchscreen gadget is made, is that the iPad will have a smaller brother come Christmas time.
According to several sources on the net, including the Economic Daily (via Pocket Lint), plans have been drawn up for a 7 inch version of the magical device.
And if this rumour turns out to be true, we’re obviously looking at a more budget oriented iPad which could push the success of the tablet to an even greater extent. Apple has already sold in excess of three million iPads in the initial three months it’s been on sale.
The smaller LCD screen will use the same IPS (in-plane switching) technology as the existing iPad, apparently. Although this is all mere speculation at the moment, it would certainly make sense for Apple to want to drive its success further by the end of the year, what with all the rival tablets coming out.
The Samsung Galaxy Tablet is expected to be launched next month, and it will be followed in fairly close order by a number of other manufacturers.
