THQ announces uDraw, art tablet for Nintendo Wii

Nintendo Wii owners can look forward to an interesting hardware diversion in the form of the uDraw from THQ.

The uDraw is a tablet which can be drawn on using a stylus, although details on the peripheral remain sketchy. Not really, but we couldn’t resist the awful pun…

It’s actually a 4 x 6 inch tablet, with a slot for the Wii-mote which provides the device with its power.

The uDraw (surely it should be WiiDraw) is meant to be used for drawing (obviously) and will come bundled with an art studio program. However, it can also be used for game related shenanigans, with the classic Pictionary scheduled for release, amongst other titles.

The uDraw promotional video shows a platformer where the platforms are being drawn in for the player’s character to land on.

Stuff.tv reckons the device will be out in the States before Christmas, priced $70. Unfortunately, we’ll have to hold on a bit longer for it over here, with the release expected at some point early on in 2011.
