M-Dress comes with built-in phone

File this under the category, “Whatever will they think of next”. Either that or simply, “Why?”. At any rate, a London fashion company has designed a new dress which comes with a built-in mobile phone.

Mashable reports that the tight, figure-hugging black dress with long sleeves comes with a mobile stitched into the top of the sleeve. The wearer will simply move her hand up to her ear to take a call, and the conversation will be ended when she puts her arm back down at her side.

The so-called M-Dress (made for M-People, perhaps) will also allow you to call a limited amount of pre-programmed contacts, although we’re not sure how that’ll work. All you need to do is slip your sim card into a slot underneath the label of the dress, and you’re good to go. Apparently the antenna is located on the hemline.

It’s a novel or completely mad invention depending on your viewpoint. We’d lean towards the latter, and will be interested to see how many women buy this piece of mobile enabled clothing when it’s released next year.

The company that makes the M-Dress, CuteCircuit, thinks it will be very handy for the female of the species who doesn’t like to carry a bag with her mobile phone inside.

There are a couple of questions the garment raises, however. What happens if you get pushed into the swimming pool at the end of the night at that posh party bash? And indeed, how do you wash this dress?

And not forgetting the possibility of having an adulterous liaison, and in the midst of the throes of passion, accidentally activating the speed dial feature to call your husband…
