An exec from EA reckons that the PS3 stands a good chance of catching up to the Xbox 360′s lead in units shifted in the UK.
Jens Uwe Intat, who is Senior Vice President for Europe, thinks that despite the slow start Sony clearly got off to with its console, the potential is there for it to level with the Xbox in this country.
He told trade magazine MCV: “We could certainly see Sony come back – in the UK it’s still a head-to-head competition between PlayStation and Xbox, but on the continent Sony is traditionally stronger than Microsoft.”
Having said that, the PS3 is now facing competition from the revamped slim Xbox, and this past week the launch of Halo: Reach has made more impact than Sony’s new Move motion controller. Sales of Microsoft’s console have almost doubled this week, thanks to Halo, and of course Microsoft’s Kinect is still yet to come out.
Although we shall have to see what impact Kinect makes in November, given its rather rich retail price tag of £130. However, the concept of not having a controller at all, and simply using your arms and legs may well have a novelty appeal with casual gamers which could prompt a serious sales spike.
What do you reckon? And feel free to wave your hands in the air, if you just don’t care (it’ll be a good warm up for Kinect, if nothing else).

Certainly not all those PS3 fanboys who have been telling us all for the last few years that sales numbers don’t matter, right?
If PS3 wants to catch up with Xbox then they need to start releasing games of the standard of Halo Reach on their platform. Which in turn begs the question..EA show us your development pipeline!?

Funny how people who don’t play PS3 games still think it doesn’t have any.

Halo sucks!! Bought it and run home to play but apparently the same old crap and graphics look very tired. I hate ps3 fanboys but have to agree that bigest game of xbox is not as great :(
