Orange Mobile Exposure 2010 report revealed

Darren Allan

Orange has been doing some research into European mobile habits, with a study which was conducted by TNS across the UK, France and Spain.

So what nuggets of mobile wisdom did this research uncover? One fact was that 74% of those surveyed in the UK said they access the web on their mobile when out, and 59% used their handset to surf when still at home.

58% of British respondents said that they wanted to access the same web content on their mobile as they did on their PC. In France, the figure was almost identical with 55%.

70% of UK folks surfed via a mobile browser, rather than an app. Again, the percentage of French citizens was almost the same at 68%. In Spain, however, it was much less with 42% using a browser, and an identical 42% using an app.

Paul Francois Fournier, Executive Vice President, Online and Advertising Business at Orange, commented: “In France and the U.K. where the mobile Internet is more established, there are more optimised Websites for phones and the experience is better, encouraging higher browser usage.”
