The sale of Freeview devices such as set-top boxes, TVs and DVRs, has reached 60 million and Freeview HD is now available in nearly 250,000 homes.

With Freeview tuners now standard in many sets, the rise of the technology looks set to continue.

Around 100 Freeview models are now available.

The Freeview DTT platform was the most popular digital TV service for main sets, according to Ofcom’s latest Digital TV Progress report.

With the whole country well on the way to becoming totally digital by the end of 2012, Freeview accounted for around 10.1 million (39.3%) homes in the second quarter of 2010.

According to Ofcom UK digital television take-up reached 92.7% in the second quarter, with just 20% of television sets still needing to convert to digital.
