Apple expected to announce huge iProfits

Darren Allan

Apple will be wheeling out its latest fiscal figures tomorrow, and analysts expect them to be hugely impressive.

In fact, according to a report in the Telegraph, yearly sales to the end of last month are expected to weigh in at $64 billion, almost double last year’s declared figure of $36 billion. Profit is expected to do the same doubling trick to around $13 billion, and we’d expect the cheesy smile on Steve Jobs’ face to double in length, too.

Naturally, this is due to the success of the iPad tablet, and the fourth generation iPhone which has sold like hot gadgets despite the whole antennagate controversy.

The iPad went on sale in China last month, and the number of units shifted has accelerated beyond analysts’ expectations. Previously they had expected sales of around 13 million units this year, which has now been increased to 15 million.

Of course, Apple will have more rivals on the market very shortly, with the likes of the Samsung Galaxy Tab and the initial Dell tablet arriving. However, these seem unlikely to stop the steamroller sales, especially with the iPad 2 on the horizon.

The iPad 2 is expected in the first quarter of 2011 according to inside rumours, with a 7 inch retina display, a camera, and increased memory capacity to 128GB.
