Weekend NewsBytes: Angry Birds flies high; Orange offers Galaxy Tab; Social networkers risk burglary

Angry Birds, the hit mobile iOS (and now Android) game, has seen a special Halloween edition released this week with 45 new levels. Although the special edition is only out for Apple gadgets, not Android devices. Apparently, stuffed toys of the birds are being produced, and may be over here in time for Christmas. On top of that, whispers of a movie or possible TV show abound… Just how high can Angry Birds fly?

Orange has announced that it will be offering Samsung’s upcoming 7 inch slate. The network operator told TechRadar: “We can confirm we are planning to range the Galaxy Tab in early November.” The fact that the company has said early November suggests it won’t be available immediately on the tablet’s launch day, November 1st, but should be soon after.

And finally, the Press Association reported on a study by Co-operative Insurance which highlighted the risks social networkers were prepared to take which could allow burglars to target their properties for break-ins. 36% of respondents said they posted updates on their whereabouts to social networking sites like Facebook, and 35% announced holiday plans as well. 21% of those questioned admitted that they didn’t know all of their friends, with some of them being friends of friends, who let’s face it, they can’t vouch for the character of.
