It’s only a couple of weeks since we reported the first divorce over Skype and now a gay couple have tied the knot over the VoIP phone service.
Gay Texans Mark Reed’s and Dante Walkup’s wedding is believed to be the first to take place over the online communications platform.
The pair used Skype to get around the ban on same-sex marriages in Texas by holding the wedding in a Dallas hotel, while a wedding official conducted the ceremony via Skype from Washington.
Although the couple had to travel to Washington to get their marriage licence, the arrangement meant that all 80 of their family and friends could be at the service in their home state.
It makes you wonder what will be the next ‘first’ for Skype – it could be the start of a whole new trend!
