Xbox Live Gold free this weekend

Starting today and for the whole weekend, Microsoft is making the Xbox Live Gold service available to all gamers on its console.

It’ll give silver members a chance to see what they’re missing out on when it comes to the Gold service.

And that’s the ability to play games online, access the Sky Player (if you’re a subscriber to Sky, that is), and there’s also stuff like Zune, Microsoft’s new music service on the console.

Indeed, according to Videogamer.com, Zune is the focus of this showcase, with several music videos being offered as free downloads this weekend. These include the likes of Lady Gaga, Rihanna and the Black Eyed Peas. Don’t all rush at once, now…

Microsoft recently increased the price of a one month rolling subscription to Xbox Live Gold to £5.99. However, unlike the States, where the price of a year’s sub went up, it remained the same in the UK.
