Sony Ericsson has announced the next smartphone in its Xperia range, which was previously referred to as the Anzu (or X12), but has actually been named the arc with a small “a”.
As had previously been leaked, the Xperia arc comes with a whopping 4.2 inch display, and it will run Android 2.3, Gingerbread. The “reality display” delivers “exceptional visual brilliance and a crystal clear image” at a resolution of 854 x 480 (FWVGA).
Sony Ericsson claims that the device is super-slim and light, and just 8.7mm wide at its thinnest section.
The 8.1 megapixel camera (with flash) will be capable of HD video recording, and will feature Sony Exmor R technology for “best-in-class low-light photography and video capture.”
The processor will be a 1GHz Qualcomm affair, and 8GB of memory will be on board, with memory card support for up to 32GB.
Sony Ericsson’s Xperia arc will be available in two colours, midnight blue and misty silver, and is slated for a first quarter launch.
