Android 3.0 Honeycomb to be unveiled on Wednesday

Darren Allan

Google has scheduled a press event on Wednesday where it will unveil the latest version of Android, Honeycomb, also known as 3.0.

The demonstration of the OS, which is the first incarnation of Android to be designed with tablets in mind, will be streamed live on the YouTube Android channel at 6pm on Wednesday our time (10am PST).

What does Honeycomb bring to the tablet world? Well, if you check out the above YouTube channel, there’s a small preview taster up there already.

The fresh OS boasts a new 3D style home screen with interactive widgets, and improved multi-tasking, along with built-in features such as Google Books and tablet optimised Gmail.

We’ll find out what lies deeper in the hive come Wednesday, of course.
