The rumour that Apple will be officially unveiling its iPad sequel next week has proved to be true.
The Cupertino gadget maker has sent out official invites confirming that an event will take place in the Yerba Buena Centre for the Arts in San Francisco, on March 2nd, Reuters reports.
While not mentioning the iPad by name, a big “2” stamped on the invite is a slight clue that the tablet will finally be coming out to play. Let’s hope that what they unveil isn’t a big number two, anyway…
Apple has pretty much cornered the tablet market thus far, with the head-start the original iPad got off to, flogging some 15 million units plus.
The iPad 2 is expected to have a thinner profile, faster processor and at least one camera, although it will be up against tougher competition this year. The BlackBerry PlayBook for one, and a raft of Android tablets of course, such as the Motorola Xoom.
