Ubisoft has cancelled the UK launch of a game in a case which is not so much “who dares wins”, as it is “We Dare binned”.
We Dare was announced for the Wii and PS3 back in January as a “fun and flirty” party game.
The title features forty “hilarious, innovative, quirky” – and certainly not cobbled together – mini-games, some of which were highlighted in a rather controversial advert.
The Telegraph has the full ad footage here, alongside its report that Ubi has cancelled the game for the UK and US.
In the advert, two couples are shown putting a Wii controller down the back of their skirt/trousers, before being lightly spanked. While gamers are used to delivering spankings to others, it’s usually online playing Black Ops, not the literal variety.
The game was due to work with the Move motion controller, too. We Dare will still be published in Europe, however.
Apparently the reason given for the UK withdrawal was the 12 certificate given to the game, and the public reaction to that rating, particularly given the marketing material.
