Apple iPad 2 delay lengthens at UK online store

Darren Allan

Those of you who decided to avoid the queues for the iPad 2 around the country this weekend and were thinking of ordering online are in for a bit more of a wait.

Initially, early on launch day the iPad 2 had stock online, but buyers quickly plundered the Apple online store of all available units, and during the day on Friday the stock situation changed with the company admitting a two to three week delay on shipping.

As we predicted, that’s been pushed out, and just like the US Apple store, a three to four week delay is now showing. In other words, order online, and you’ll hopefully get your iPad 2 before April is out.

Then again, with the US likely taking stock priority and still struggling with inventory, combined with component shortages from the Japanese quake disaster potentially starting to feed through in the next week or two, and we could be looking at even further delays.

I bought mine at 1am on Friday morning, and I still had a 4 week wait. The store was showing 2-3 days, but the confirmation email listed 15 April shipping and estimated delivery of 25th April.

Great launch Apple! Hey did you push this release so you could get in the door before Nintendo?
