If you’re ‘appy and you know it, clap your hands. Either that, or hope that your app wins big at the Appy Awards, which were organised by Carphone Warehouse and presented last night.
The BBC reports that Angry Birds won big in these particular accolades, which saw 30,000 people voting for 50 nominated apps in 10 categories.
Angry Birds, which is all about flinging various different types of birds at pigs, won the Best Game. It also flew away with the coveted Best App of the Year award – which shows the popularity of mobile gaming, and underlines a hugely successful year for developer Rovio.
Last month, the free version of Angry Birds hit 30 million downloads on Android. A Facebook version of the furious flappers is also planned, and a 3D incarnation of the game.
Back to the Appy Awards, and the other winners. Spotify scooped the award for Best Music, Skype for the Best Money-saving app, and Google Maps for the Best Time-saver.
Facebook of course had to win something, and scooped Best Time-waster.
