BT Openzone have teamed up with Heineken to offer free Wi-Fi in hundreds of pubs across the UK.
The free-to-use hotspots will kick off with 100 London pubs, with the project expecting to extend to in excess of 200 more across the rest of the country by the end of next year.
The service will be free to any of the 5 million BT customers who currently enjoy their products and will also feature editorial content written by the team behind the ‘i’ newspaper and will be known as Heineken Hubs.
The content is expected to be location-specific, bringing local news and information to the hotspots for customer convenience.
The Wi-Fi initiative will provide excellent exposure for Heineken among its key target audience and build greater affinity between the brand and its consumers.”
Chris Bruce, CEO, BT Openzone, concurred: “Using Wi-Fi to deliver free and exclusive content, Heineken is engaging and exciting pub goers and will undoubtedly increase business. It’s an exciting time to be involved in hospitality marketing.”
The move could see pubs in the UK once again enjoying better profits, which have been hit hard by the smoking ban and the current economical climate.
Perfect for solving those ‘who’s right’ conversations in the pub, the move will be a welcome addition for boozers across the country as well as those who fancy doing a spot of Friday afternoon work along with a pint and a spot of lunch.
