The latest from the Apple rumour mill is another snippet of gossip underlining the speculation that the company is planning to release a larger, 15 inch MacBook Air.
We first heard rumours of such a computer back in November of last year.
The device should be arriving this spring, according to ElectricPig, who spoke to an “anonymous vendor” who claimed that the 15 inch Air version was set to land as soon as next month.
ElectricPig’s vendor source, a “key player” in MacBook docking solutions, noted that the 15 inch MacBook Air would have no optical drive or ethernet support, and would have ports along both sides.
The source believes the launch of this model will mean Apple pretty much kills off the MacBook Pro range, all except for the high-end 17 inch version.
There’s certainly a ring of truth here, as Apple is increasingly looking towards the cloud, which the MacBook Air solution fits better with (and not just because of the name).
We’ll see soon enough, if indeed April is the target for the release date. What sort of price tag the MacBook Air 15 inch version will carry is the other major point of interest.
