The new Tom Clancy Ghost Recon game, subtitled Future Soldier, has gone straight to the top of the UK all-format game chart (as compiled by Chart Track).
The Ubisoft shooter is the fifth in the series, which was first launched on the PC some eleven years ago. Future Soldier has racked up the best sales the franchise has ever seen.
Last week’s number one, Max Payne 3, saw its sales halve, and has slipped to number two. Last week’s number two, mind, has slipped further, with Diablo III falling to number nine (although the game is a single format PC release).
There was another new entry at number three, Dragon’s Dogma from Capcom, followed by a further debut with Dirt Showdown coming in at number four. A bit disappointing for Codemasters, as Dirt 3 managed to grab the number two spot upon launch.
EA’s football titles slipped this week, with FIFA 12 falling to number five, and FIFA Street almost dropping out of the top ten, just hanging on at number ten in fact.
Sniper Elite V2 was at number six, followed by Modern Warfare 3, then Prototype 2 at number eight.
There was another new entry just outside the top ten, with Mario Tennis Open for the 3DS hitting number eleven on its opening week. Doctor Who: The Eternity Clock didn’t do quite so well on the PS3-only, struggling to number thirty-four.
