Sleeping Dogs back to number one

As Guild Wars 2 slides down the chart...

Sleeping Dogs, which slipped to number two in the UK all-format game chart last week, is back at number one.

That’s the third week it has spent at the top of the chart in total, and it moved back up despite sales dropping by 40 per cent.

That’s because last week’s number one, Guild Wars 2, nearly halved in sales this week – as we predicted, the hardcore MMORPG fans were all out buying the game straight away after launch. So this week, Guild Wars 2 slipped to number six (although that still isn’t too shabby a position for a PC-only game).

There was a new entry at number two for The Sims 3 expansion Supernatural, which is the seventh expansion for the sandbox life simulation.

New Super Mario Bros 2 held steady at number three, with London 2012: The Official Video Game also holding at number four (no doubt to begin a quick slide out of the top ten next week, what with the Olympics/Paralympics now over).

Lego Batman 2 was at number five, followed by Guild Wars 2, as we’ve already mentioned.

The rest of the top ten consisted of Madden NFL 13, which held at number seven, followed by Dead Island GOTY Edition, Darksiders II and Modern Warfare 3.
