There’s a new number one in the UK all-format chart, Borderlands 2 from 2K Games.
In fact, Borderlands 2 has had the biggest debut week thus far in 2012, muscling out Mass Effect 3, the previous holder of that accolade.
That’s quite a surprise, particularly when you consider that the original Borderlands only made number seven upon its release three years ago. The sequel has outsold the original by no less than four to one, with the Xbox accounting for 70 per cent of sales.
There was plenty of competition for the top spot this week, as well, with new releases also hitting the number two and three spots: F1 2012 and Pro Evolution Soccer 2013 respectively.
Sleeping Dogs, which was at number one last week, slipped down to number four.
Lego Batman 2 found itself at number five, followed by LittleBigPlanet PS Vita, and then New Super Mario Bros 2 at number seven.
Tekken Tag Tournament 2 was at number eight, and Guild Wars 2 slid to number nine, just keeping hold of its top ten status. Max Payne 3 remained stationary at number ten.
