O2 suffers another outage

Is this becoming a habit? We hope not...

Network operator O2 has suffered another attack of the gremlins, with the service for some customers being down.

Some tweets have been popping up today, with folks complaining that their phones were down with no signal, leaving them unable to use voice services or surf the net.

And then O2 updated its Status page to note that there was indeed an on-going problem.

However, we can’t actually get on to the Status web page at the moment, as it fails to load; suggesting a lot of disgruntled customers are trying to get on it, to find out what’s going on.

O2 tweeted an apology half an hour ago, noting that 10 per cent of its user base is affected: “c.10% customers are having problems when making calls or using data. Some are back up and running. Full fix this afternoon. We are sorry.”

Well, the afternoon is drawing to a close, and that Status page being down isn’t a good sign – neither are some of the tweets which are still popping up regarding lack of service.

Karen Tippett-Lehane queried: “I have been down from 1 and still down, what does full fix this afternoon actually mean? Please advise.”

And Angus Fox noted: “@O2 you may well be sorry but you are useless! Where’s the voucher for the outage last time?”

There are certainly some unhappy punters out there… again.
