Halo 4 has stormed to the number one spot in the UK all-format game chart, dethroning Assassin’s Creed III, which slipped to number two after sales dipped by 70 per cent.
Of course, Halo 4 is an Xbox-only title, but still sold at a blistering pace, outselling the amount of units Assassin’s Creed III shifted on both Xbox and PS3 last week.
That said, Halo 4 didn’t manage to outsell its predecessor, Halo 3. The game had the 18th best ever debut week on record according to Chart Track, whereas Halo 3 notched up the 15th best.
FIFA 13 was pushed down to number three, but is still selling well.
Need For Speed: Most Wanted moved up to number four, overtaking Football Manager 2013, which slipped to number five.
The bottom half of the top ten was populated by Skylanders Giants, then WWE 13, Borderlands 2, Just Dance 4 and finally Medal of Honor: Warfighter, which fell another four places this week.
There was one other new entry in the top forty, with LittleBigPlanet Karting entering the all-format chart at number twenty-four.
Next week’s chart, of course, will be dominated by tomorrow’s big name launch, the latest in the Call of Duty series, Black Ops II – which is bound to be the best-selling title of the year (taking that accolade off FIFA 13).
