Default Virgin Channels Via Internet Modem

Now folks!

Somebody in my area (North East) is somehow obtaining all virgin channels via their modem and box. All i know briefly is that you connect your modem to your box then to your tv and them he adds firmware via a usb stick and there you have it all your channels. Not sure what boxes he is useing, i presume they will need to be paired for obvious reasons. The firmware seems to be the key to how he is doing this, has anybody got any ideas? He`s selling these for £150 normal and £260 for HD. This definately works as a few people in my area have had it done.
