It isn't anything at the moment, its up in the air, until the Karen Murphy case has been heard and judgement given in the European court. All we know at the moment is that prosecutions are not able to take place. So the pubs and clubs are taking advantage of the slowness in proceedings.

sorry statement is not correct , i had V+ rented box for a while when i rang for discounted package (compete with SKY) they offered me a deal to pay out right for my box there and then and reduce my rental. I accepted this deal.

My statement was completely correct!

What you are referring to I will explain but you still do not own the V+. All V+s remain the property of Virgin Media.

In June 2007, Virgin Media changed the way that their customers paid for V+.

Pre-June 2007, customers paid a monthly fee for V+, either £10 per month if you were on TV XL or £15 per month if you were on a lower TV level. For new customers, this was removed after this date and replaced with a higher installation/activation/setup fee. TV XL customers would then have no additional monthly fee and lower TV would still have a £5 per month fee for V+ services.

For customers who already had V+ at this date, they continued to pay the £10 or £15 per month ad infinitum but were offered a 'conversion' fee. Payment of this fee would allow you to change to the new fee structure and not have to pay the £10 per month charge.

This is what you are describing but, as I said both earlier in this post and in my earlier post, you still do not own the V+. Why would you want to anyway? Do you really want to take responsibility for the maintenance of the box as the owner? You will probably say that, as the owner, you could sell the box. Who would buy a box that cannot be connected and used on the Virgin Media network?

Oh sorry that is what so many people are trying to do with their dodgy boxes now that they no longer work on the more secure Virgin Media cable network.

Dick Turpin's customers did not chose to associate with him.

If you are paying Virgin Media £60 per month, that is your choice, they are not stealing from you.

Unlike Dick Turpin's customers, you can chose to disassociate yourself from Virgin Media and not pay the £60 per month.

Yes, try go and get a better deal with Sky!

Once you have found it, tell Virgin to to stick theirs where the sun don't shine unless they can better it.

Though,I confess, for me anyway, the deal from Virgin was cheaper, and got two brand new boxes out of it, one a v+ hd.

It may be Hobson's choice but it is still your choice.

There are other options - TopUp TV, BT Vision. Well they're not very good options but........
