Help! I have a V box and keep getting jumpy/ breaking up channels, which then goes to No Signal but on Info level is showing 80%. Have tried all fixes as noted previously but none seem to work. Anyone have any ideas? Please!

have had the same problem since installing 18/4/08 software.i needed this to overcome the autoroll problems.the new software worked fine for a couple of weeks then noticed the no signal banner and squeaking sound and picture breakup.my signal level was 85-89 % .having checked the cables,re scanning and bypassing splitters,i used the signal boost option and increased the signal to around the 93% mark.no change.before launching the box into next doors garden i spent a fiver for a variable attenuator, fitted it and after a couple of minutes of tweeking, the box works fine.my problem seemed to be to much signal strength coming into the box that caused the tuner to drop out for a second then recovering ,this happening over and over causing picture/sound breakup.my signal is now around 75-79% with perfect picture and sound.if you put the cable in the loop socket just below the rf in and your picture stablises, then this could be that your signal is to strong like mine was.

good evening.
go to the channel thats breaking up, press the info button twice and note the frequency.(eg 522.000mhz).
go to menu, instalation, user instalation, enter pin.
you will now see a list of frequencies.
scroll down to the frequency that you noted before. (eg 522.000mhz).
press green button. ch edit.
press blue button. modify.
useing the numbers on the remote add 0.5 mhz to the frequency. (eg 522.000mhz becomes 522.500mhz.)
press ok.
it will say please wait to save data.
press exit.
if the picture is now stable, all is well.
if the picture is better but still glitches go back and add another 0.5mhz.
if the picture is worse go back and subtract 1mhz.
hope that helps.
sossybaby.

My addition is that when you add or subtract the 0.5 Mhz look at how quick the quality bar comes back. The quicker it comes back, the better the signal meaning no breakup, and also less time for the channel to come on when flicking up or down.

All in all making the box function better.

Enjoy

Flashman.
I have same problem of jerky/glitching/freezing of channels and have even checked all cables/fittings. Tried your way and guess what .... the quality was better then seemed to fluctuate as before .... any other ideas??

Thnaks for this, can you advise where I can get a variable attenuator without paying a fortune?

I turned off the signal booster and this seemed to do the trick, but last night it started again albeit not as bad but annoying all the same. I think to save my sanity, I will invest a fiver on an attenuator. Thanks..
