Default Sky Italia begin testing NDS4

Sky Italia have begun testing Videoguard 4

Italian satellite pay-TV Sky Italia has launched trials of a new access card working in a conditional access system, n.d.s Videoguard 4. The new system is blocking the illegal sharing of cards (card sharing), which became a big hit.

Sky Italia platform offers programs from the Hot Bird satellite at the orbital position 13°E. It is not known when the new system Videoguard 4 will be fully operational.

EMM: CA ID: 0x0919 Videoguard (n.d.s) - CA PID: 0x012D - NDS2

EMM: CA ID: 0x093B Videoguard (n.d.s) - CA PID: 0x012D - NDS3

EMM: CA ID: 0x09CD Videoguard (n.d.s) - CA PID: 0x012D - NDS4

It's not that long since Italia did a card swap, they went to NDS3 just before Sky UK, since that time they have implimented several c/s countermeasures all have been succesful for a few days/hours before a fix is found.

If succesful, I would expect Sky UK to roll it out not far behind Italy. Wonder what coulour the new cards will be ?

I doubt they'd roll it out this year

Be interesting to see what NDS have actually done !

When it comes right down to it, it would be very hard to stop the big CS outfits as they could potentially just use one card per channel. A lot less profit for them but they could source a couple hundred channels to a few thousand people easily enough so probably still worth their while.

The only permenant fix I can see is for them to increase the ECM rate until it's too fast for an internet connection to keep up. The question Is, how many ECM's per second are the cards and origional recievers capable of ?
