Question Having trouble getting Sky Freesat service alongside Sky+HD box

Hi. When I initially had Sky installed, with an old Panasonic box, I asked them to fix it so I could watch Sky in my main room, and two further rooms, using magic eyes. The cable ran from the dish into the Sky box, back outside and up into the loft space, where it was presumably split, and back down into the two other rooms. All worked fine. I upgraded to Sky+HD some time ago, so the original Panasonic box was going spare. I decided, rather than carry on with the magic eye, to use the Panasonic box in one of the other rooms and get Freesat with a £25 card from Sky. However it says "no satellite signal being received" when I switch it on. I've got the cable screwed into the satellite plug on the back of the box (I tried it in the aerial socket too, but that didn't work either). I've got a good quality Scart cable between TV and box. I've tried both with and without the phone line being connected. I've had the Sky card activated. Surely if the cable worked before with the magic eye, then it must be capable of receiving Sky? What am I doing wrong? Any advice much appreciated.

It sounds, from your description, that the cable you're plugging into your receiver is not connected to the LNB, but instead is fed from your Sky box, through a distribution system, to other televisions, which explains why you're not getting a signal.

You need to run another cable, from your Sky quad LNB, to the new receiver.
