Default 3rd Room Box

Hi i have two V+ boxes with XL subscription on Virgin (Cardiff area) i have split the upstairs signal to my daughters bedroom but the box i have doesnt work (old one). Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get another box, but without having to pay another second room subscription???

I paid virgin for the original V+ so i was thinking to ring them and tell them it is bust and i want a box to replace it, i am guessing they will charge regardless the box though??

Or maybe i could threaten to cancel the current second room as the box i paid for is broken and they would send a basic box out, but again they may just pair up my old card, and i would have a box without a card

Any ideas, gudiance would be appreciated.

Thanks

Pay the rather modest additional monthly fee of £5.50 and you will feel so much better.

There is no other way, now that N3 is almost complete, other than considering the card sharing route.

thanks this Virgin contract seems to be getting more and more expensive - now with a 3rd room box......ahhhhh!!!!!!£5.50/month is ok until you calculate all the other extras.....Maybe i will just rewire my old sky box back up to that room and just keep the free channels. Thanks

You could save yourself that £5.50 a month and run a TV in the bedroom from the receiver RF out if convenient. I use that in my own bedroom and for one of my kids. It works OK with a remote extender too.

You would feel so much better not having to shell out an extra £5.50 a month, AND remain legal.

The only fly in the ointment is that on the V+ HD boxes there is no RF out, and a modulator needs to be used. However running the modulator from the SCART output forces the user to select SD mode, as the SCART does not work in HD mode.

One way of fleecing more out of us I suppose, because there is no technical reason to do this as far as I know, my satellite box can still send a picture down the scart whilst in HD mode.

There is a second fly in the ointment. The box has to watch whatever chennel the other box is on. Not much use if the OP's daughter wants to watch her own channels.
