Hi all,
I know we can't talk about c/s here so I won't go into specifics. Unlike many of the older cable boxes, the Dbox2 (Nokia) has an ethernet port which obviously allows us to connect to the Internet. Is there any reason why the Dbox2 can't be set up in a similar way to new boxes like the Krytview A780 and StarView6? Both these boxes connect to a 'public' c/s server which I guess only allows MACs/some other ID associated with their boxes onto the servers. Has anyone successfully cable c/s'd with a dbox2? Is it possible with the right firmware combo? Is the only thing stopping someone from setting up a public dbox2 ala Kryptview server the fact that it'd be too open and risky? Anyone with any extra info that might not be wise to mention in public by all means PM me! Thanks crew! |

Yes, technically it can be done. Both dreambox and dbox are used in other parts or Europe for N3 CS.
The only technical obstacle in the UK seems to be the lack of ability to aquire the relevent pairing keyset (think of it as a 2nd, slightly more secure boxkey). The fact that both KV & SV have obviosuly cracked this problem would indicate that its probably not too difficult but, for whatever reason, very few people seem to be actually trying !!! |

I'm facinated by the ins and outs of this stuff and always willing to learn, so will keep on digging and keep an eye out for developments. I couldn't care less about watching the actual TV, piracy via the good ol' interwebs has always been my way, but reverse engineering and circumventing something that 'can't be done' is always something I've held close to my heart!

Are they taking out those too then? Full shut down of the N1 streams?
Right now it's as basic as basic comes, i.e.BBC1 (many regions) BBC2 ITV Ch4 Five (lots) BBC3 BBC4 CBeebies CBBC ITV2+1 ITV3+1 ITV4+1 Ch4+1 Some freeview porn nonsense A couple of gems hidden away (ITV_hid = CBBC, which in the list is encrypted) Seems odd that ITV2,3,4 are gone yet the +1's are still rolling. Hope this little lot lasts a while longer as it's the best we have at that place right now, temp. houseshare and no incentive to put aerials or dishes up! Oh well, guess there's always tvcatchup.com if needs be. I'll set up a Freeview PC in the living room if the time comes. ![]() Btw, I did a scan at the weekend and the 'PPV' channel was showing WWF. Is this one of those protected channels which only comes into effect if someone in the area pays to unlock, or do those things (what were those movie channels called years ago?) not exist anymore?
