iam not sure if they are working TBH. ive never messed with one before the other day, when somone give one to me, so i thought i would have a tinker and flashed it with hackware, and tried it with good macs but it wont lock onto upstream i just get the send light flashing and not going solid.

i only tried one flash file on it, so it might want a reflash with another, but i could't be bothered, i will have another mess when i get some time and find any more files to flash to it.

but as the post says if anyones still running a sb4100, then let us know wot firmwares on it etc etc.

iam not bothered about long or short term use of it, i just dont like to be defeated by a old school modem lol.

macs are good for sure, frequency is set correct and also is upstream channel but still the send light flashes, who knows it might be a tuner problem i got with it.

anyways there no rush on it, i will just try it again later in the week once i try and narrow down a 2mb dump for it (pile of tat if u ask me lol) but hey its another learning curve.

ok some good news and some bad, i managed to get hold of a 2mb dump which i flashed and it now locks onto upstream and goes online and works fine.

the bad news is if you turn it off and back on after 5 mins, then the mac goes dead and you get DHCP offer in the surfboard logs, same thing whats happens to me in haxo at the moment, so u either gotta try some more macs but not too many or the modem will be blacklisted for a few days or leave it off for a few days and then put it back online with a new mac.

i leave them for over a week b4 trying again.

but overall iam glad i got it to lock on upstream, as it was nice to tinker with it and learn a bit.

thanks goes to bad_ad84 over @sbhackers.
