Default Wireless help

Need your help guys.

Just got sky installed and trying to connect wireless.

However if i re boot the computer i cannot get online unless i fiddle with a setting, it just does not seem to save on the re boot.

To get me online i have to go to manage network connections, i right click on the wireless icon, i need to disable it then enable it. This allows me to get online but i seem to have to do this everything i reboot.

Any ideas.

I have the pleasure of windows vista

How long are you waiting before "fiddling"?

Have you tried connecting using an ethernet cable between the PC and the Router? (I'm suspecting wireless interference) and if you have, does it hold up okay?

When i connect the router via an Ethernet cable direct to the laptop it works fine.

I had virgin media and changed to Sky.

Therefore it looks like the router works fine its just the settings or something on my computer. I have to go into manage network connections to disable the wireless connection and then enable it. This does not always work and i sometimes have to do it a couple times. If i get online then it holds the signal ok, however if i leave the laptop top for half an hour or so then try to get back on i dont get a connection, this is without switching it off.

Any ideas i can try. I am going off my head lol

Been reading up a little bit more and I am going to try a few things.

Just for anyone in the know there are a couple things that might be causing this.

My computer was away getting fixed, when i got it back and switched on it has a two accounts, my account that was always there and now the admin one. I cant seem to delete the admin account and wondered if having this account can be causing problems.

Could this also be a firewall problem or TCP/IP filtering problem.

Cheers

Which Windows version do you have?
The PC should have at least one Admin account, but for security you should only log in as Admin to do Admin things (like the person who fixed your PC).

right click on my computer (computer for vista or win7)
click manage
click on local users and groups
click users
then right click on administrator and you can select - deselect whether or not you want this account.

Problem solved, and so bloody easy that i am embarrassed i missed it and spent hours trying to fix.

Within manage network connections i have a LAN connection and also my wireless connection, the wireless connection was the one i had to disable and enable to get online. It suddenly dawned on me that the computer must be trying to connect through a different route, the LAN connection. I disabled that and bingo!!!!!
