Default What is DVB-S - DVB-S2 !!!

I have a subscription to BIS on HB and starting from 2011, BIS should be transmit its channels useing DVB-S2 system insted of DVB-S

Can someone explain to me what does it means?
Do I have to buy a new receivers?
If yes can you suggest me a Common Interface receivers that cost more or less between 100 - 150 Euro
Now I have a Sat+

DVB-S2 is basically higher compression - mainly used for HD but also it is used for SD. Usually you need a HD box for SD on DVB-S2.

Yes, unfortunately new equipment will be required as the S2 system uses a rather different demodulation backend on the tuner. The modulation technique allows for higher bit rates (ie faster data) which allows for the extra data needed for the HD transmission.

As hinted above, the system also requires different firmware to allow for the new codec that handles the much more efficiently compressed data format of the new HD streams.

Being quite a new system the S2 boxes are still relatively expensive in comparison to standard dvb-s boxes. Personally, I would tend to wait until nearer the time your provider starts to switch when prices may of fallen and there's a better selection of boxes.

I have another question:

DVB-S2 includ DVB-S?
So a receivers with DVB-S2 turner can receive bouquet that trasmit in DVB-S?

Yes, boxes that can receive dvb-s2 can also receive dvb-s. The demodulator is backwards compatible.
