Hello Folks
I'm new member here , I contacted my Dreambox DM 500-S to my laptop via RS232 to UBS cable to be used with DreamBoxEdit 3.0 .

Yet I keep getting failed IP address connection message . I got the correct IP address from the Dreambox expert menu .

you use the lan for dreambox editor

I use the Rs232 to USB cable , because my laptop has 15 bin input not 9 !
So I bought the UBS connector .

you cant use rs232 to connect to box and use dreambox edit

use ethernet cable

no, rs232 for flashing with dream up, ethernet for sending files for bq's ect with dreamboxedit

if you are after editing the services on the box you just use ethernet cable.

ah, if your doing it directly to a pc you will need a crossover cable i think.

plug it into the router and the router crosses it over for you
