Default Sky+HD Match Choice Problem

i have some very unusual behaviour with his Sky box. He said that if he goes to watch a specific game on "Match Choice", then the screen just goes blue, and i to reset the box. It's fine with tennis match choice, only football does this.

I suggested he tried to connect via SCART instead of HDMI, and this works perfectly well, but naturally, he then has to watch it on SD.

He got the Sky "engineer" out, who swapped over the box, and swapped the HDMI cable and walked away (actualyl he came back and swapped the box again. Now he's faced with the same issue, but we know it's not his TV, the cable or the Sky box. He suggested to the Sky man it could be a transponder issue, but the guy pointed out that if that was the case, he wouldn't have got the tennis match choice, so whilst it's not a major issue, it's got me completely baffled.

Anyone got any ideas, or had previous experience of this?
