Hi guys,
I have noticed quite a few posts regarding choosing a box and thought it might be useful to get first hand views from the actual users. If you use one of the other, (since these are the only ones working on vm), please let us know how or you are.You could comment on: - The box name and model you're using - Ease of setup (was it straight forward or difficult) - Ease of use - Number of channels available (any missing channels?) - Quality of image (any freezes/glitches?) - Your final word by scoring between 1-10 (10 being the best) I hope this will help anyone who is undecisive to make their mind up. Many thanks.

I dont think your going to get a fair comparison. Hardly anyone has both boxes. And alot of people on this forum immediatly fall ill when they hear starview.
Without doubt, the KV is better. However it is also more expensive. I can't say how bad the starview actually is, but my guess is that it isn't as bad as alot of KV owners make out. Otherwise they wouldnt still be selling a ton of boxes. |

believe me guys i own a sv combo+ and got rid of 2 sv6's as performance was well below par, they were the easiest boxes ive ever flashed and scanned in under a minute, lots of glitching freezing and server going down a lot and quite a few missing channels. so i sold the 2 sv'6 and invested in the a780, flashing this box was identical to earlier sv's and eurovox,s ie. null modem cable. which ive got to say was the best move i ever made since n3. the kv server is far superior and has all channels, althugh picture quality isnt as good as sv, but i cant falt my combo when it comes down to sat side as i recieve better quality than i did with my sly hd box.

Obviously the one negative point about SV (allegedly) is that it will only last for 12 months, I have no idea as to the validaity of this statement but may be someone could let all of us know about the facts. Crucially Value For Money and Picture Quality are the vital features, at least for me that is. |

I asked the same sorta question and didnt get much help. Just that "ive gotta be stupid to buy a SV6". lolYou have also gotta remember, that the Sv6 has a built in PVR, Kv doesnt. About the time limit, No one acctually knows... Anyone telling you 1 year or whatever is making a guess. Either box can go off whenever, neither SV or KV have said anything about how long any will last. Some say KV is indefinate, others say SV is indefinate. You have to think of it in a way that anything over 12months is a bonus. Everything you will hear about the time limit are just rumours. |

I use an SV HD combo + and have set up 4 so far for neighbours.
Pros Setup and connecting to a c/s server is a doddle. have used a wifi bridge and direct connection via RJ45, both work fine. Scanning is quick and easy, pics up all the channels Menu's are clean and quick. PVR and pausing live TV works great. HD channels (those that are available) are stunning. Cons occasional freezing and glitching. watch TV mainly in the evening, some nights are freeze free, others, maybe once an hour for a few seconds. Doesn't decrypt movies HD or sports HD, maybe they haven't been added to the c/s server yet. EPG sometimes empty, loosing pre-selected recordings. Have to power on and off to re-populate. Overall, after about 1 month of use, I like it and would recommend it. The only thing stopping me going for the kryptview is the lack of HD. Last edited by reiss; 29-09-10 at 07:45 PM. |
