hi all,
got an iphone all legit off my mate bought an 02 sim with a tenner on it put it in and urmm......nothing emergancy calls only.tried ringing 4444 but nowt happening,i was hoping to get it unlocked and use my orange card but it wont do anything at the moment.when i switch the fone on it showing a usb cable pointing to an itunes icon ? can anyone help me get this phone going please.

ok chaps, i have got the phone going now,i plugged it into my lappy and its done some sync things? and now it will work, however its locked to 02 and if poss i would like to use my orange card in it as i've had the number for 16 years or more.so can anyone help me to sort this out please,i dont know anything about these iphones,or how to set them up.

What firmware version are you running , I could help you unlock the carrier settings if you like , pm me

the first thing your going to have to do is jailbreak the device.
secondly your going to be wanting to upgrade or downgrade your firmware to vesion 3.1.3 for that perticular device depending what firmware is on the phone... then you will be able to unlock the handset through cydia

for you to use any other card you must be jailbroken and then install ultrasnow

hello all, i have the same problem,just got hold of a iphone 3g working fine,but i would like to unlock it to another network. its got version 4.1 (8B117) modem firmware 05.14.02 it is on o2 at the moment. cheers...........mike

you can unlock the iphone by jailbreaking the device but once its been done you will be stuck on baseband 6.1.5 wich is a ipad v4 but then again who cares lol it will work

Ok so i have tried to jailbreak my iphone 3g,useing the link in this section(how to jailbreak apple iphone) with no luck!! keep getting stuck when it says in dfu mode,have waited up to 30mins and nothing, just end up having to restore it. also i have tried Redsn0w, but i can never find the files needed when i browse for them,it just shows a empty folder.(and yes i did download them first lol) can anyone help please!!!!! i would like to jailbreak it and then unlock it. cheers......mike

I took mine to the shop and paid £20 to get it unlocked and jailbroken at the same time....
