help needed

keep reading through pages trying to sort modem out but cannot seam 2 get it back up and running after a mac change ppl keep on about cpc change wat is cpc stand for do u change it on modem or on pc thanx 2 all who read and reply

right buddy when u check what ubr u r it will say summat like this
cpc4-heck15-0-0-cable.virginmedia.com u need macs from same ubr but different cpc so in my case i wud need them from say cpc2 or 3 or 5 and so on its a case of keep checking macs buddy

As above mate,macs seem to be getting tied down to ubr's but this should get you back online temporarily at least,you'll probably find your area will settle down in the next few weeks and "dead" macs will work again but hey we'll all be using 1.1 soon? right....lol

cheers for that ratcatcher so i would need 2 sniff macs from a diffrent area from mine about a mile or so away or can i change cpc on computer sorry for the questions but been at this for a few days now with no luck been 2 diffrent area sniffing got macs but still not working

yes thats right you need to scan mile or two from you so its a different UBR/CPC to yours otherwise macs keep knocking each other offline not good for the people out there paying subs!

hi thanx for the reply techwreck i av scanned about 2 mile away from me but the macs will still not work they will only last about 2 mins then go off again so i end up back at square one so the only thing i can think off is there must b a clone detection in my area can anybody from around liverpool area confirm they r aving same problems or r they working ok do not think it can b a cpc issue if i am scanning from diffrent ubr and diffrent area aswell any help will b gratefully appricated

Download SMAC 2.0 install it to your desktop, that will change your mac on pc, sniff for at least 3 days 24 hrs a day, just keep trying different macs and keep changing max on pc. I was at a mates house for 5 days trying different macs before I got on, it is all you can do.

hi thanx for reply been trying diffrent macs for days now and like i said earlier they last about 2 mins then go off even tried at diffrent houses and diffrent pcs but still go off after a couple off mins so cannot b a pc issue with changeing nic mac
