I know How you feel, its not as easy as changing a mac most times these days, lots more being done by Vermin Pedia to knock clones off.
You really need to look at some of the posts in the cable section and try and get your head around the technical side of modding.
I aint no expert but you need to be looking a things like `stealth` and certificate extraction, and thats just for starters.
my had hurts already !
good luck

m8 do some reading on here and u will find wot u need. try the search button. and dont pay and get ripped off by this bloke no more £10 for a mac change i wud shove that sb5100 right up his docsis.

how far does he live from you cos the macs might of worked in his area but the mac might not be for urs.

best advice i can give you is to have a search around this forum on the modem section for a hour and u will find the info u seek. and then if ur still stuck then i or someone else will help you out no probs.

but if you dont help urself 1st then you will just get ripped off in the future buddy.

right ive got it back working courtesy of the gentleman above heres how i did it for anyone else who dosent know:

this is for the sb5100MOD firmware:

type 192.168.100.1.666 into your browser to open control panel,
then find the clone tab,
now where you have the serial every time you change the mac change the LAST 2 digits in this to any random number and save,
then find the hfc mac and clear the mac thats in there,
next type in your mac address you have found

once you changed the mac, save settings
then click on the tools tab and restart

should take about 30 seconds to reboot, if it was a working mac then all lights should be solid, if either the power or online light are flashing try a different mac address
also
if you still get no joy you could try and make a note of ur serial no. and then put in the same mac address u use in the serial no. aswell but without the colon's . also change the ethernet mac to the same as the mac address but change the last digit to one higher or lower to the hfc mac

ALSO ONCE YOU HAVE A WORKING MODEM DO NOT SWITCH THE POWER OFF AS THE MAC ADDRESSES ARE PRONE TO GOING DOWN !!!!!
