I know it's pretty clean over this side of the forums, but some of the other forums are doing clever little things like cloning cards through card readers and card programming software etc.
Is there any way a legitimately paid for Sky subscription on a Sky+ HD box can be cloned to enable a 2nd Sky+ HD box to be activated in another room (or some other clever card manipulation?). Basically i'm too tight to pay for Multi Room and was wondering if these clever card cloning techniques can get around this? Thanks for any help & apologies if this kind of post is just too dirty for this section

You can use Dreamboxs to share your card within the house. You cannot have the card in a normal Sky box during sharing and it will therefore miss its "keep alive" signal unless you regularly put it back in the normal box.
Ethically this is a lot less unethical that the internet based card sharing systems which bypass paying any subscription to Sky at all. |

Are you wanting to watch both boxes at the same time?
If not then why not view your main box in the 2nd room, by feeding the video/ audio to the 2nd room. If you do want to watch in both rooms at the same time, then the best way is to pay for it.

I was actually hoping to set up a second box (i have a spare Sky+ HD box) in the main bedroom with the legit box in the lounge and view them independently.
The idea was actually to link the second box to a Slingbox so that I can control the second box from my comp for when I'm out on business without interfering with the main box. Thanks for your replies, sounds like the multi room tenner is the only option. Seems like Sky are a few steps ahead on VM in preventing work arounds. I'd naively thought that if Sky can give you a second card to control a second box (as part of their multi room) that there maybe a way of programming such a card tricking the system. Obviously not
