Well if it does get cracked, isn't that a step forward for the cable scene? Little progress is better than no progress .

if i had the choice i'd go back to the v+ anyday. there is nothing like it which can record two channels whicle watching a third and the epg is 2nd to non. the only thing which comes close is a sky plus and even then your missing a tuner.

lets face it, card sharing is a temporary workaround which is far from secure.

i do see one problem even if n3 does have exploitable bugs.....

the talkback issue. TC will prob put me right but i do think that the rsa pairing mechanism uses the returnpath of the cable boxes to some degree.

I suspect that this is just another "leak" to promote the sale of yet another card. How many times in the past have cards been released with the promise of a future "hack" which has never materialised

tbh, I dont even think its a new card as such. If you look at its spec it looks remarkably similar to some previous cards so i'd guess its just another variatation on the same old Atmel theme.

btw, A card with a mere 72k flash would be nowhere near enough for a full Rom142/180 emulation. The Rom142 ROM image is at least 128k and the Rom180 is likely to be 256k.

Perhaps i'm being a bit cynical as I suppose its possible a Rom142 hack has been found but that would really only make it useful to Ireland. Rom180 certainly isn't compromised at this time !

Added as I cant edit my above post for some reason !

btw, even with some form of card hack its unlikely this will work on a provider stb due to the requirement for pairing. That would require the extraction of the unique box pairing code (a bit like an extended boxkey) from the actual stb and, as we know, boxes like 2110's and V+ boxes are damnably difficult to get into !
