Default virgin media and broadband

I just got everything installed. TV and broadband yesterday. I don't have my stuff setup for user name and password. I thought they do that when they are done installing. They said no. What now? Is there a site in virgin media to set all of this up? If so can you please help me. I can't do anything online properly to do with my account without this information. Please someone help me. They charge rediculouse prices to call them and ask. I spent 11 #'s yesterday trying to get through so I hung up.

You used to get a letter through as part of the 'Welcome' pack which told you your username/password but not sure if that is still the case now email etc has been farmed out to google.

Check any documents that you received before the fitting - you may of missed something.

What? When we were with VM, we got very near the actual speeds we paid for(same with O2, despite being further away from the exchange) When we paid for 2MB broadband, we received 1.8Mb/s When we paid for 10Mb broadband, we received 9.71Mb/s constantly.

The problem is likely to be with your modem or your router(more likely to be the latter) VM dispatch DIR-615's by default, and some of these have really quite dodgy firmware. If upgraded to D-links patched firmware or custom firmware, then the speeds do really go up

ie: My laptop was the only device in the house that was affected by slow(impossibly slow) download speeds with O2, using a DIR-615.

Initally, I increased TX power(modded with DDWRT) to 90mw

I have a spare PC that I use for flashing receivers etc...(Dell GX50) that doesnt have a wireless USB port, and needed network connection somehow, so the cheapest option was to get a repeater bridge ie: a DIR-615 modded. Immediately, laptop download speeds improved, as well as internet connectivity on the laptop when the repeater was switched on(before I would get kicked off the network at times)

The primary DIR-615 has now been re-arranged, and with some tweaking with the antennas, and positioning of the router, as well as downloading a new update, speeds(well for me, reliability mainly) has really improved. YouTube clips seem to load a lot faster with the new updates, and rarely reboots in the middle of the day. Its now running at 70mw(deemed safe)

Sorry for the rant, but just goes to show the router may be at fault(most likely) Have you tried a direct connection to your modem, to see if that improves any thing? Also, the modem may possibly be broken, and VM will simply issue you with a replacement

You can't beat a fibre optic connecton
