Bought a Vonets Wireless Bridge and set it to talk to my router. I have plugged it into my 500 but I can't communicate with it.
Do I need to change settings in the 500 or maybe laptop? cheers |

You need to configure them in a PC/Laptop first, they need to know which network to connect to and what the password is.

The IP should be something within your network ie:
My router has an IP of 192.168.2.1-subnet mask of 255.255.255.240-Default gateway of 0.0.0.0 My printer has an IP of 192.168.2.5-subnet mask of 255.255.255.240-Default gateway of 192.168.2.1 My DMM has an IP of 192.168.2.8-subnet mask of 255.255.255.224-Default gateway of 192.168.2.1(Directly connected(wired) to router) My repeater(bridge) has an IP of 192.168.2.10-subnet mask of 255.255.255.240-Default gateway of 192.168.2.1 Find your default gateway first.Im assuming you have a wireless router within your household? If so, go to a PC, and find the command prompt Type: ipconfig The cmd prompt should display something like the following: IP: 192.168.x.x Subnet:255.255.255.0 Default gateway:192.168.x.x If you have a router with an IP address of 192.168.1.1, then the PC will display the following IP: 192.168.1.5(any number between 2 and 254) Subnet:255.255.255.0 Default gateway:192.168.1.1 Then you should configure your repeater to either do DHCP, or to manually configure it to an IP of your choice. ie: IP: 192.168.1.10 Subnet:255.255.255.0 Default gateway: 192.168.1.1 The IP you have there is a network IP. Anything ending in 0.0 is usually a network. You've either not got a wireless router OR its been mis configured OR the bridge is not within range You will then need to configure your DMM. Its probably not best to have a DHCP address, considering you'll probably need to FTP to it etc..

It will be in settings, and network settings or expert settings and communications setup

You can leave DHCP ticked for your repeater, but untick it on your DMM
DHCP gives IP's out automatically. You dont want an automatic IP on your DMM

You will need network enbled for internet connection so leave it ticked DHCP if your using it as a client box then leave it ticked, but if you want a static ip then untick and give it an ip use a high number like 192.168.1.199 |

For the bridge, it wouldnt really matter if its DHCP or static, unless you want to do further modifications.
For the DMM, its advisable to have a static(DHCP unticked) IP address, considering that you will have to FTP to it to simply add a cline It is also very likely that you have a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0 considering that manufacturers have no idea how many hosts you want on your network, and that is the default subnet mask for a 192.x.x.x address
