Default SV 6 set up snags

I've just attempted to set up my shiny new SV6 box but I've hit a few snags already.

Does the box need to be connected to the net BEFORE it's updated or after? If it's before I have 2 problems.

1 The CD I got with the econnect home plugs doesn't work and
2 I only have one compatible plug at the back of the modem which the blue ethernet cable goes into. I need an extra plug for the cable from the home plug (do they do a double adapter?)

Any thoughts/advice most welcome!

TIA

Susie

you put the software on the box first then scan the box, after you have that done you connect your ethernet cable, but as you are using hom plugs follow below

plug to wall ethernet cable from plug to ROUTER, other plug beside box in wall cable from plug to box job done.

you will need a router if you want to use the tv and the internet at the same time. its best to buy a router they are very cvheap now....

hope this helps... or alternatively you will need to restart the modem if you switch from net to tv or the otherway round. as it wont connect otherwise....

i loaded fw restarted box connected to internet scan job done.....

good luck

you could have bought a router cheaper than homeplugs, just outta curiosity who's your ISP? as they might be able to provide you wih a free router, thats what a lot of ppl do rather than buy 1

Steveieboy - I'm with Vermin and you don't get a free router unsless you have the xl BB package which we don't need.

I went to Comet just now and was looking at routers so I can plug my home plugs into it as well as the ethernet cable. The chap there said I need to go wireless on the pc before I get a wireless router. does this make sense or was he talking twaddle??

TIA

Hi All

Just came on to say I've managed to set up the SV6 with a wireless router and the home plugs.

I couldn't have done it without you!
