Default Re: Froyo 2.2 for Samsung Galaxy S

Well here we are at the 25th November and no sign of Froyo update for my Virgin Galaxy S. Kies reports that the firmware (JF5) for my device cannot be upgraded. WTF is going on?

upgraded to gingerbread on friday and did a factory reset for the hell of it.

everything was sweet. read a couple of rooting tuts and downloaded some tools and gave it a go.

heypresto. in less than 5 mins i had a £300 brick. (a pretty fance brick as it looked and worked like a phone for 10 secs before it rebooted itself)

ended up going the whole hog and now kies reports my device as un-updateable

Did you get it sorted??
You will prob have to use odin to re-flash.
can you get into download mode? vol down, home and power button while phone off.
Will have a go at walking you through it if needed.
